For the Partner

How to be her greatest support

She is carrying your baby through months of change. Your support matters more than you know, and the small things count the most.

The little things mean everything

  • Listen. Often she needs to be heard, not fixed.
  • Take chores off her plate before she asks.
  • Come along to the check-ups when you can.
  • Be patient. Hormones make moods swing, it is not about you.

Learn with her

  • Open the MiGynae App and read the FAQs and blogs, on things like labour pain, acidity, leg swelling and sleep.
  • Once you know what is normal and what is a warning sign, you can calm her worries instead of adding to them.
  • Gently remind her about her medicines, her water, and her rest.
A partner who knows is a partner who helps.

In the labour room

  • Stay calm. Your calm becomes her calm.
  • Breathe with her, and hold her hand.
  • Help her change positions, and speak up for her to the team.
  • If she snaps, do not take it to heart. She is working incredibly hard.

After the baby comes

  • She is healing and running on little sleep, take the night shift when you can.
  • Bring her water and food, especially while she is feeding.
  • Watch for lasting sadness or anxiety. Postpartum depression is real, help her reach her doctor early.
  • You are a team. She should never feel she is doing this alone.
